Turning the complexity of renewable energy into a hands-on experience. Our immersive instruments create intuitive, touch-based encounters with sustainability.

The Erneuerbare Energien Fabrik (EEF) develops hybrid energy networks, smart systems that combine wind, solar, storage, and hydrogen to deliver sustainable power.
To support their communication with clients and partners, EEF commissioned a custom-built interactive version of our Commune S Table for their showroom and trade fair appearances. The goal: to turn the complexity of hybrid energy into something you can immediately understand and enjoy exploring.

User Journey & Context
We designed and developed a fully self-contained, plug-and-play table installation that visualizes energy flows in real time. Visitors can explore how hybrid systems work by physically placing 3D-printed objects, like wind turbines, solar panels, or storage units onto the table surface.
Each object is detected and activates a specific behavior on screen, with animated energy flows, changing system states, and real-time statistics updating in response. Users can switch between day and night modes to see how production and demand shift—and how batteries and hydrogen play a role in balancing the system.
Technical Features
Built on our Commune S Table platform
Custom designed, 3D-printed Tangibles

Integrated tutorial mode and day/night toggle
Native object recognition
Placed in inactive mode at the start, the table encourages playful exploration. In tutorial mode, users are guided through a suggested order of placements that demonstrate how the grid builds up, step by step. Each new tangible triggers visual feedback and animated connections, showing where energy goes, how it’s stored, and how it powers consumers.
A persistent dashboard shows system balance and the share of each energy source, updating live as the setup evolves.

This project brings together Monomango’s expertise in physical-digital storytelling: a seamless blend of UX design, hardware integration, and custom software development. The entire system, from concept to finished product was designed, built, and delivered in-house within 8 weeks.
Whether in the showroom or on the road, the EEF Hybrid Energy Table provides a powerful centerpiece that makes the invisible flows of energy tangible, understandable and memorable.
