Take a photo with FC Bayern stars and configure your dream BMW with this new interactive spatial fan experience.
Concept
To celebrate FC Bayern Munich Basketball’s major new sponsorship with BMW, MONOMANGO’s interactive brand immersive instruments produced a brand activation space in Munich’s historic 1972 Olympic basketball stadium.
We transformed a presenter box into three interconnected installations: an AR photobooth, an FC Bayern-themed BMW car configurator and a dynamic spatial media gallery comprising of multilayered screens.
Brand Activation Space
To pay tribute to the Basketball stadium, we applied a basketball court design to the flooring in collaboration with AMU Architekten.
The flooring guides fans towards the photobooth – the installation’s first touchpoint – when on their way to the stadium.
BMW is also represented in large overhead signage with the brand partnership statement "We power joy. Together." <<TOO MUCH INFO? which is made from custom CNC-machined 3D corian>>.
AR Photobooth
As the installation's first touchpoint, fans can take augmented reality photos with their favorite FC Bayern players using a customized version of the immersive instruments infinity terminal – an interactive touchscreen seemingly suspended in an infinite space of coloured, purpose-programmable lights.
To prepare the photobooth's AR content, we filmed the Basketball players in collaboration with Rapid Peaks and prototyped the spatial setup in-house.

Photorealistic Realtime 3D Car Configurator
At the center of the spatial concept is a custom immersive instruments Commune S table with a 55-inch touchscreen and object detection.
Visitors can configure virtual photorealistic BMWs by selecting paint colors, wheels, stickers, and place it in basketball-inspired environments.
In the final step, visitors choose their four favourite FC Bayern players. Once finished, they are presented with a custom, live rendered, highlight reel of their configured car and the players enter the scene at the end.
Dynamic Spatial Media gallery
Fans can choose whether to display the results from the photobooth and car configurator on the spatial media gallery or download and share them via a QR code on social media.
Every few minutes, a custom animation appears across all screens, to form an integrated whole of the entire room.
The media gallery features a collage of 10 x 4k screens connected to one media server and controlled via an online content management system.
